On September 11, 2002, the California Highway Patrol arrested actor Nick Nolte on suspicion of driving under the influence. A CHP officer saw Nolte's Mercedes-Benz swerving across a Malibu highway, and upon pulling him over, the officer noted he was drooling and looked droopy-eyed. He was released on $25,000 bond.

In December 2006, The California Highway Patrol busted Nicole Richie, co-star of the reality TV show The Simple Life, for suspicion of DUI, a misdemeanor. The 25-year-old actress was booked at the Glendale Police Department, where the mug shot below was taken. She was later released after posting $15,000 in bail. As of June 2007, she was still awaiting trial.
