In Nashville, Steve McNair of the Tennessee Titans was charged with DUI an possession of a firearm under the influence in May 2003. Police stopped the 30-year-old McNair after spotting his 1999 Lincoln Navigator weaving erratically in downtown Nashville. The quarterback's Breathalyzer indicated.18--nearly twice the state's .10 blood alcohol limit. Police also found a 9 mm pistol in McNair's SUV; although McNair held a valid permit to carry the pistol, Tennessee law makes it illegal to possess a firearm while under the influence.
