BARTON, Vt. (WCAX) Police have arrested two Derby Line men in connection with the attempted armed robbery of a Barton convenience store.

Police say an unknown white male entered the Circle K around 3 a.m. Tuesday, brandished a handgun, and demanded money from the clerk. Instead of giving him money, police say the clerk, 52-year-old Lester Bousquet, chased the suspect out of the store. He fled in a grey Dodge Ram truck.

Vermont State Police arrested Zachariah Rathburn, 21, and Hezekiah McCullough, 22. Rathburn is charged with assault and robbery. McCullough is charged with being an accessory to a felony. The pair will be in Orleans Criminal Court Wednesday at 12:30.

Former kid-celebrity Edward Furlong was arrested in Kentucky in September 2004 on charges of public intoxication. Furlong and company allegedly arrived at a local grocery store in a rowdy manner and started to snatch lobsters from the store's tank. When police tried to search him, he put his hands up in the air and started to turn around in circles. Furlong was in custody only a handful of hours before posting bail and being released.
