A former prison convict charged with armed robbery at the CVS pharmacy in Adrian claimed Wednesday he was only trying to frighten an employee with a toy gun who made disparaging comments about a thief.
David Daniel Byard, 48, of Adrian gave the explanation while pleading guilty to assault with intent to rob while armed, a charge that carries a maximum life prison term.
