Canadian Fined Nearly $20,000 For Lawn Chair Balloon Flight

A Canadian man was fined nearly $20,000 by an Alberta court for using more than 100 helium balloons to take a lawn chair flight over Calgary.

Provincial court Judge Bruce Fraser heard Daniel Boria, 27, who pleaded guilty in December to dangerous operation of an aircraft, strapped more than 100 balloons to a lawn chair in July 2015 and flew 2-1/2 miles over Calgary.

Katherine Lambeth, 50, of Cloverhill Drive allowed a man named "G" to borrow her 1980 Oldsmobile, Officer Shawn Haney reported. In exchange, she received from him $50 worth of crack cocaine and a promise to return the car by 5 p.m. last Saturday. When he didn't return the car as promised, she reported her car missing Monday. The car is valued at $1,500.

Reports state that police witnessed the six-time NBA champion pass cars stopped at a red light using an oncoming lane. Then-Rockets player Pippen failed a field sobriety test and refused to take a Breathalyzer, but prosecutors subsequently dismissed the misdemeanor charge.
