A burglar who broke into a home just east of Fresno rubbed spices over the body of one of two men as they slept in their rooms and then used an 8-inch sausage to whack the other man in the face and head before he ran out the house, Fresno County sheriff's deputies said Saturday.

Katherine Lambeth, 50, of Cloverhill Drive allowed a man named "G" to borrow her 1980 Oldsmobile, Officer Shawn Haney reported. In exchange, she received from him $50 worth of crack cocaine and a promise to return the car by 5 p.m. last Saturday. When he didn't return the car as promised, she reported her car missing Monday. The car is valued at $1,500.

Jesse Jackson

Activist Jesse Jackson was arrested in December 1999 and charged with criminal trespass when he walked onto the grounds of an Illinois high school where a debate was raging around the penalization of several students expelled for fighting. Jackson was recently arrested and charged again for the same crime in connection with a demonstration at a gun shop in Riverdale, Illinois, when he refused to leave the store as ordered by police.
