Man Charged For Refusing to Leave NC Jail

A man who'd just been released from jail in northern North Carolina was arrested again for refusing to leave the jail after authorities wouldn't give him a ride to a motel.

A Meadow Drive woman reported Thursday that sometime on June 22, someone entered a bedroom in her house and stole a pair of diamond earrings worth $1,100. The woman's daughter reportedly admitted that she sold the earrings to a dealer for $50.

Rip Torn

Texan actor Rip Torn was arrested for drunk driving in the city suburb of North Salem, New York in December 2006 for crashing his car into a tractor-trailer. State police said the 75-year-old actor was visibly intoxicated and refused a Breathalyzer test. He was later quoted as saying "I love New York" after being acquitted in a juried trial. Torn was arrested on the same charge two years earlier in New York City for crashing into a taxi.
