Man Fed Up With Troublesome Intersection Intentionally Causes Crash

A man said he was so fed up with dangerous drivers at one particular intersection in Clermont that he intentionally caused a head-on crash to prove a point, according to the Lake County Sheriff's Office.

Bruce Homer, 61, told deputies that he saw an SUV run a stop sign at the intersection of Fosgate Road and Grassy Lake Road around noon on Sunday, so he pulled into the SUV's lane, claiming the SUV should have swerved to avoid him, according to the affidavit.

Jupiter, Florida, authorities charged MLB manager Tony LaRussa with drunk driving in March 2007. The official report states that the St. Louis Cardinals' manager was slumped over the wheel of a Ford SUV in an intersection around midnight. After failing field sobriety tests, the 62-year-old LaRussa was transported to the Palm Beach County Jail, where Breathalyzer tests showed his blood alcohol content to be .093 - above Florida's .08 legal limit. LaRussa posted $500 bond and was released.
