Man Who Robbed Bank To Get Away From Wife, Sentenced To Home Confinement, Community Service

A 71-year-old man who said he robbed a Kansas City, Kansas, bank so he could get away from his wife blamed his actions on depression.

A federal judge on Tuesday sentenced Lawrence John Ripple to six months of home confinement and 50 hours of community service.

An officer witnessed the breaking of glass in Jenkins Hall. A male student was seen brushing glass from his shoulder, but claimed the glass was already broken when it fell from its frame on him.

Jupiter, Florida, authorities charged MLB manager Tony LaRussa with drunk driving in March 2007. The official report states that the St. Louis Cardinals' manager was slumped over the wheel of a Ford SUV in an intersection around midnight. After failing field sobriety tests, the 62-year-old LaRussa was transported to the Palm Beach County Jail, where Breathalyzer tests showed his blood alcohol content to be .093 - above Florida's .08 legal limit. LaRussa posted $500 bond and was released.
