Police: Suspect Tried To Rob Bar With Cheese Grater

James Plante Jr. was charged Monday after he tried to rob a Hammond bar using a cheese grater underneath his shirt and successfully robbing a nearby gas station a couple minutes later, Lake Criminal Court records alleged.

A sick alligator was reported in a pond on Henderson Road on July 26. Police came and observed the 4-foot-long alligator. It did not look sick to them.

Activist Jesse Jackson was arrested in December 1999 and charged with criminal trespass when he walked onto the grounds of an Illinois high school where a debate was raging around the penalization of several students expelled for fighting.
