Seattle Police Leave Rifle Unattended On Cruiser

A Seattle police spokesman says the department is embarrassed after officers left a police rifle unattended on a patrol car outside a busy downtown area. Spokesman Sgt. Sean Whitcomb says the department has launched an investigation.

Whitcomb says two people spotted the rifle on the parked car.

A woman claimed her lover broke her finger. However, it was known that her finger had been broken in an unrelated incident and he wasn't charged. Both parties were intoxicated and counseled by deputies.

Rip Torn

Texan actor Rip Torn was arrested for drunk driving in the city suburb of North Salem, New York in December 2006 for crashing his car into a tractor-trailer. State police said the 75-year-old actor was visibly intoxicated and refused a Breathalyzer test. He was later quoted as saying "I love New York" after being acquitted in a juried trial. Torn was arrested on the same charge two years earlier in New York City for crashing into a taxi.
