Chicago police said an alleged minivan thief attempted to evade arrest by jumping through a window into his home and pretending to be asleep.

The police report of the incident said officers attempted to pull over a Pontiac Montana minivan after it ran a stop sign on the city's South Side around 9 p.m. Friday and discovered the van, which did not stop, had been reported stolen Wednesday, the Chicago Tribune reported Monday.
