| Super Bowl: America's No. 1 Eating Holiday | | Published: February 05, 2012 | Weird News | 649 Clicks | "Super Bowl" Sunday has officially replaced all other holidays as the ultimate day of fatty feasting.

Frederick Kaufman, author of "A Short History Of The American Stomach" (Harcourt), says scarfing down food is "one of the characteristics of American culture," and the "Super Bowl" is the day to celebrate that.
Kaufman says, "The "Super Bowl" has become our No. 1 eating holiday. There's no question that it's replaced Thanksgiving."
Kaufman says fans will revert back to their inner caveman when devouring what he calls true traditional American cuisine -- soda, potato chips, and pigs in a blanket.
He explains, People will eat like pre-historic animals. We'll eat with our fingers and guzzle down beer. It makes us feel like we've had a good "Super Bowl."
Kaufman says chomping on "high-fat foods that have no sustenance" makes us "proud to be American," so the "Super Bowl" is the ultimate patriotic social event.

Glen Campbell
Arizona authorities arrested country singer Glen Campbell for drunk driving and hit and run in November 2003 after the 67-year-old performer ran his BMW into another car at a Phoenix intersection. Although Campbell left the scene of the accident, authorities found him at his home nearby. The police report states that officers smelled alcohol on the singer's breath and noted that he looked drunk. Campbell was booked into a Maricopa County jail, where he kneed a sergeant in the thigh, receiving an additional aggravated assault on a police officer charge. In May 2004, the country star pleaded guilty to extreme DUI and leaving the scene of an accident, for which he served 10 nights in jail in July 2004.
